Everyone deserves a Home that meets their needs

We want to create co-operatively owned homes in the Black Country—secure, inclusive, and accessible places where people have a real say in their community. Join us to help build fairer homes for the future.

At the core of what we’re building is a belief that everyone deserves fairness, dignity, and the chance to thrive. Secure housing should be a right, not a privilege — and people should have a genuine voice in shaping the homes and communities they live in.

Through cooperative ownership, we’ll create housing that offers both stability and shared responsibility. Every home and shared space will be designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring disabled people are included from the start, not added in later.

By working closely with the wider community, we’ll open up opportunities for people who are often excluded — strengthening connections, confidence, and collective belonging.

Many people in the Black Country struggle to meet their basic needs for secure and accessible housing. This lack of suitable housing — especially for disabled people — prevents individuals from reaching their potential and fully participating in society.

We want to change that. Our goal is to create a model of best practice for fair, long-term, and accessible housing. Through a cooperative approach, we aim to provide individual homes alongside shared spaces that bring people together.

Our designs will put accessibility and inclusivity at the heart of every space — creating homes that truly work for families, rather than houses families have to make do with.

At Black Country Cohousing, we believe that cooperation is the foundation of a strong and connected community. As a fully mutual housing co-operative, every member has an equal voice and a shared responsibility for how we live together.

We make decisions collectively, supporting one another and working towards shared goals. Through this model of collective ownership, everyone plays an active part in shaping our homes, our spaces, and the community we’re creating together.

Good design does more than create beautiful buildings — it shapes how we live and connect. Our homes and shared spaces are designed to encourage neighbourly support, spontaneous conversation, and lasting relationships.

From shared gardens and community kitchens to family-friendly layouts, we’re creating places that invite connection while respecting privacy. We believe that thoughtful design can nurture trust, inclusion, and a true sense of belonging.

Community doesn’t end at our doorstep. We’re committed to working alongside local residents, groups, and organisations across the Black Country to share knowledge, resources, and opportunities.

By collaborating with others — from disability advocacy networks to local councils — we can strengthen our neighbourhoods and make sure our work benefits the wider community as well as our own members. Together, we can build connections that create lasting change and a stronger sense of belonging for everyone.
